The daycare I currently work at has a dress code of solid colored polo (or t shirt) and khakis. While this does provide a good way to keep teachers looking neat, it isn't very convenient. In some of the younger classrooms, especially the infant and toddler rooms, scrubs would be more suitable for teachers to wear. Reason being, children get sick which brings coughing, sneezing, snot, and worse case puking. It would be a lot better to throw a set of scrubs in the washer at night than to wash khakis and polo's constantly that aren't quite made to stand up to washing that much. Scrubs are made to get yuck all over (nurses wear them for this reason) and its a more comfortable way to keep everyone uniform. I love the children I watch very much, and embrace all the tears and boogers i catch on my shoulder, but I would feel better knowing i'm not potentially ruining a good shirt or pants. If we can get this dress code change, I think it would make teachers more comfortable at least.
