Cancellation of final year degree exams in Karnataka.

Cancellation of final year degree exams in Karnataka.
The Issue
Dear all,
We the final year students of Karnataka request you to cancel our final year exams as the cases in our state as reached 30,000 plus, the students are mentally stressed and under pressure to write the exams amidst the pandemic.
This has come as a huge surprise for terminal (final) semester/year students that the UGC in its latest revised guidelines has recommended universities to conduct online/offline/blended mode of examination for terminal sem/year students by the end of September 2020.
The sudden decision by the UGC is bound to cause mental agony to lakhs of terminal sem/year students especially when many states like Maharashtra and Punjab and now recently Delhi DCM Manesh Sisodia have already decided to scrap all the exams including the final year taking in consideration the future of the students.
It should also be noted that ideally, the exams of terminal sem/year students in offline mode should have taken place in May/June 2020 in the absence of the COVID 19 pandemic. However, that did not happen because of the pandemic and in the month of May and June, there were far less corona positive cases in Karnataka than there are now. The COVID situation is only worsening in Karnataka by each passing day and therefore to stress on exams for terminal sem/year students without taking their physical and mental health into consideration is an uncalled-for step by the UGC/BU which it should reconsider and roll back at the earliest. The UGC/BU should also issue a fresh set of guidelines recommending the universities to evaluate all terminal sem/year students based on their internal assessment, assignments, and previous year marks. Only for the backlog subjects, students can take up online exams.
Regards,
Final year students of Karnataka
