Hello revolutionists! Your tremendous support has made us reach to 17000+ supporters. Our petition has also got media attention and media houses such as Times of India, NDTV, India Today and many others reported on the same. I thank Press Trust of India for recording my statement in an e-mail conversation and giving our petition a major recognition by publishing it. In my opinion, you all truly deserve the pat on your back. Without your support it wouldn’t have been possible to make this petition viral on social media. Thank you from my heart. _/\_ In the major update, Hon’ble Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis refused to provide potable water for maintaining pitches for this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) and said he did not have any problem with matches being shifted out of the state. “My government has taken a strong position in the High Court. We have said we will not provide potable water for IPL for this season. We don’t have any problem even if IPL is shifted, but no potable water will be provided,” he said today. “It was put forth by the organizers (IPL) that they would use non-potable water. We have said unless we ensure that it is non-potable water we cannot allow. So, we are okay even if it is shifted,” he added. Potable water is the water used for drinking purpose and non-potable water is the water that is not of drinking water quality, but which may still be used for many other purposes, depending on its quality. I respect his opinion and I am glad that Hon’ble Chief Minister is in favor of shifting IPL out of Maharashtra. Further, there is another opinion taking rounds on social media stating that the water used for IPL is negligible as compared to the demand for water in drought-hit areas. Thus, it wouldn’t make any difference whether IPL is shifted or not. Regarding this I am of the opinion that our petition is more of the ethical issue. When our brothers and sisters in Maharashtra are craving for a glass of water, can we allow wasting such huge amount of water just for maintaining cricket pitches? Do our conscientious allow this to happen? According to news report in Hindustan Times, there is a riot-like situation in some region of Latur when the water tanker arrives. The water tanker is given protection by local police. Even I am a big cricket fan as much as any college student, but one has to set priorities! For me, the lives of people are more important than cricket pitch. If there is even 1% chance to save the life of one person by way of this petition, I will consider it to be a grand achievement. I hope you will agree with me. Thank you for your continuous support and request you get this petition signed by every person you know.
