Hello,
Our petition is growing leaps and bounds receiving tremendous support and more than 12,000 people have signed the petition. In last 24 hours about 10,000 new supporters have joined the cause.
Today Bombay High Court allowed the inaugural IPL match at Mumbai on April 9 but slammed BCCI saying, “…people are dying and you want to maintain pitches?”.
Further, the court agreed to consider the demand for an interim order restraining all cricket associations in the state from using water to maintain their pitches, pending the hearing of the PIL.
In another news, former Sports Minister MS Gill on today asked the Board to have some sanity in its thinking and shift the matches of IPL out of drought-hit Maharashtra.
"The drought condition in Maharashtra is so severe that in a few days people in areas like Marathawada will not even have a glass of water to drink. As a former Sports Minister and ex-Agriculture Secretary, I know that several parts of Maharashtra are bone dry and I am amazed that in this situation the BCCI wants to hold these IPL matches," Gill told PTI today.
I hope the inaugural match is first and last match in the Maharashtra.
I thank all of you for your continuous support and request you to spread the word!
