On behalf of Clovis Unified School District students and community members, we would like to present our concerns and demands regarding the CUSD dress code. As students we need to feel comfortable in our learning environment, and the school dress code should reflect that. The current CUSD dress code leaves little to no room for its students to feel safe or comfortable in their own bodies and individuality. Its vague and subjective language (e.g. "draws undue attention," "distracting," "good taste," etc.) focuses the dress code on conformity and what is deemed "acceptable" rather than students' safety and self-expression.

We believe that the CUSD dress code should serve to support all students in developing a body-positive self-image and safe learning environment. We demand that the list regarding dress code changes below be fulfilled.
