Planning for New Years Eve Fireworks takes many months and it was impractical to suggest we can stop these ones now. But there is plenty of opportunity to do something different next year and beyond if we start planning now. Fireworks displays are expensive, dangerous and totally out of touch with contemporary Australia in Summer. This petition asks the following: 

1. Please commit to banning future New Years Eve fireworks across Australia

2. Please immediately allocate a proportion of your 2021/2022 fireworks budgets to a competition to design a creative, relevant and contemporary celebration next year

3. Please ask the businesses that benefit from the NYE celebrations to pay for it from next year

4. Please allocate the remainder of the budget to be assigned to the restoration of wildlife habitats destroyed in the fires
