Close the Loopholes Letting Foreign Money Into U.S. Elections

Close the Loopholes Letting Foreign Money Into U.S. Elections
The Issue
Recent accusations against the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue — and new revelations about foreign-linked donations to Donald Trump’s campaigns — make one thing clear: our campaign finance system is wide open to abuse.
Both major parties have faced scrutiny over donations tied to foreign addresses, anonymous sources, and straw donors. And while Trump has called for an investigation into ActBlue, reporting shows that his own committees have accepted hundreds of questionable contributions — including from foreign businesspeople, unnamed donors, and individuals using fake addresses or crypto.
This isn’t a partisan problem. It’s a legal failure.
The truth is, our laws are too weak to stop foreign money and undisclosed influence in U.S. elections. Campaigns aren’t required to verify who their donors really are. Contributions with fake or missing information still go through. Straw donations and crypto gifts are almost impossible to trace. And the Federal Election Commission doesn’t have enough commissioners to enforce the rules even when violations are obvious.
If we care about protecting democracy, we need action now — not just political finger-pointing.
We’re calling on Congress to pass tough, enforceable laws that:
- Require campaigns to verify donor identity and citizenship
- Close loopholes for straw donors and anonymous gifts
- Restore full enforcement power to the Federal Election Commission
No candidate or committee should be above scrutiny — not ActBlue, not WinRed, not anyone.
Sign this petition to demand Congress close the loopholes and protect U.S. elections from foreign money, dark money, and unchecked corruption.
