Close the Dilley ICE Detention Center, Where Kids Struggle to Breathe

Close the Dilley ICE Detention Center, Where Kids Struggle to Breathe
The Issue
911 calls from the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in Texas describe children struggling to breathe, suffering seizures, and burning with fever.
Since September, emergency crews have been called at least 11 times for children in medical distress inside the facility.
Some children were rushed to hospitals, including specialized pediatric centers more than an hour away. Pediatricians have warned that detention environments can worsen children’s health and have urged the Department of Homeland Security to release those being held there. DHS maintains that families receive appropriate medical care.
No matter where we stand on immigration policy, children in medical crisis should not be confined in facilities where ambulances are repeatedly called.
We call on President Donald Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to close the Dilley ICE Detention Center.
We demand to release detained children and families to community-based alternatives, and ensure independent oversight of any facility housing minors.
Children deserve care, stability, and safety — not repeated medical emergencies behind barbed wire.
Close Dilley. Protect these children.
