Most elementary schools do not have air conditioning. It is not acceptable to expect teachers to teach and students to learn in a classroom that is almost 20 degrees above an average room temperature. For many students and staff, this is unsafe. 

We are calling for school closures on days that Environment Canada issues a Heat Warning; or, as an alternative, a transition to online learning for the day for schools without air conditioning in classrooms.
