The Issue

Living in Hillside, NJ, has always been a source of pride and joy for me. It's a community where families thrive, neighbors gather, and children play freely. Unfortunately, this dream has been disrupted by the presence of a night club establishment called Hollywood Blue Ribbon.

This isn't just about disliking a night club—this is about the real and immediate impact it has on our community. My child attends a school located nearby, and every morning, I witness the aftermath of the previous night. The streets are littered with debris and broken glass, remnants of the revelry that transpired. It's more than an eyesore; it's a hazard, posing safety risks to our children who walk these sidewalks each day.

Moreover, the noise levels are unmanageable. The constant thudding of bass and chatter disrupts the peace of the neighborhood well into the night. Despite noise ordinances intended to keep this in check, it persists, depriving residents of a good night’s sleep. I worry not only for myself but for my child and every other family longing for restful nights. The emotional toll of enduring sleepless nights shouldn't be underestimated, and it's one that many in our community are unfairly facing.

Adding to our woes is the issue of limited parking. Residents returning home in the evening are frequently met with full streets, the majority of spaces occupied by club patrons. It's a frustrating scenario for any family, and when parking is finally found, it's often blocks away from our homes.

The presence of Hollywood Blue Ribbon negatively impacts our town, and it doesn't have to be this way. We propose the club either be closed down or relocated to a less residential area where its influence wouldn't echo through our daily lives and nights. It's a reasonable and actionable solution that would restore peace and safety to our neighborhood while allowing the club to continue operations in a more suitable location.

By signing this petition, you are voting for the safety, peace, and well-being of the Hillside community. Let’s unite to reclaim our streets and our nights. Add your name to demand change, to protect our town and to provide a safe and quiet environment for all, especially our children.

Thank you very much for reaching out to me. I am very sensitive to this issue and it’s on my agenda to deal with it quickly. I prepared a more in depth survey to help me understand which issues are the priority. Please share with your respondents: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScOsAaaBpj4MRnAgZVv1ExfOR7kQKfK9wxiEnrk7rPBkGxTUg/viewform?usp=dialog Once I can get a grasp on that I would present that (without disclosing names of course) what the residents are concerned about and we will have two options: 1. They fix it quickly 2. We suspend their liquor license for 3 months so they see we are serious and enforce police presence. If nothing changes we suspend it for 6 months. They won’t survive that. The next public meeting is Tuesday December 9th at 6:3-pm and the more people that attend and voice their issues the better.
