Hi Everyone,
I think Taylor Wimpey must think we are numties or something.
They get a petition from 450 local residents (now up to 600) who are potentially impacted by flooding generated by their development and asking why they have sought to do things in a particular way which normally is NOT open to public consultation, and why SODC is allowing them to do so. And in response, they revert with a lot of purile pap about what good boys they are because they showed us their scheme 2 years ago before they discovered the sinkholes which are causing them to try and change their drainage regime and pump their site full of concrete and ash to stabilise it.
Great, they have answered nothing at all and simply sent out a load of CSR gibberish. What did they say again were their policies.......
Treating local communities with fairness and respect
Working and engaging with communities,
Protecting and enhancing ecology and biodiversity
Yeah right.....just as we might expect, words words words window dressing and more words. They stand for nothing unless you 'walk the walk' Mr Taylor Wimpey, its easy to 'Talk the Talk', and guess what shareholders care about these things these days! So why not come clean and just delete the stuff out of your Annual Report, cos you certainly do not do what you say you are going to.
Well if they will not listen when they are asked to and even their main board repeat this same old rubbish mantra but don't do it, then I think we have to go national and try and shame them into doing something. So we will try and engage the papers, much wider social media channels and at a national level. This kind of riding roughshod over residents who face their largest investment - their home being flooded simply because of the stupidity and greed of a housebuilder that has either failed to do his due diligence properly or is not prepared to spend the money to GUARANTEE that existing houses will not be liable to flood is simply not acceptable.
I have previously asked if we could try and keep signatories of the petition local so as not to be accused of bringing in rent a crowd from facebook and twitter etc. Well we have 600 unhappy residents now, so I think its time to go BIG and go NATIONAL, and I would appreciate your sharing this link to everyone you know! This stuff is happening all over the place, their was another village Ickford in Bucks featured on the BBC again last night, so if we know folk their lets target them aswell as everyone you know. The campaign is now more about ensuring that housebuilders pay less for their sites so that they have the cash in hand to properly develop their schemes without adverse impacts on existing houses and householders in flood zones or where their sewage outfalls are into flood zones.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
