Peter Boros started this petition to Cllr David Bretherton (Chair SODC) and

These photos show local flooding as recently as 2014 right where it is/was proposed to release more water!

We don't want any more water where it already floods, and neither do the residents on the outskirts of Henley where the latest iteration of this proposal is targetting to discharge the wastewater.

Worse still it has come to light that the Aquifer (drinking water supply)  is also under threat from this proposal and could be contaminated as a result of the proposal to inject concrete 50 feet into the ground. This is simply nuts!

Thank you for your support!

Taylor Wimpey PLC proposes to inject a 13 acre site at Thames Farm Reading Road Lower Shiplake with concrete to a depth of perhaps 50 feet. They are doing this as they have discovered their site has 'sink' holes and is not suitable for new houses without this treatment. Having made the ground impermeable, they then want to collect the water arising on and around their site, pump away that Surface Water from the site and the 100 houses that they want to build approx. 2 miles to discharge it in a brook that is already prone to flooding. This is likely to make the current flooding even worse in that location for local residents and a large nursing home with infirm residents in that location.

The Application, because of how it was presented as simply ticking off minor details, did not even have a flood risk assessment presented with it. Bizarre given how major a change this is to their original scheme.

They have chosen to use an approval process that does not permit public consultation and minimises the input that the regulatory authorities can have on the proposal since when they first got Planning Permission.  Seemingly no one was aware of the fact that the site had geological problems beneath it and inadequate due diligence was undertaken.

Instead, the Developer and SODC should now acknowledge that this is a major variation to the proposals and submit a fresh application that will be the subject of proper public scrutiny rather than using a technicality to try and get a back door approval.

South Oxfordshire District Council have gone along with what Taylor Wimpey are doing and important decisions have seemingly been made behind closed door by officers without the approval of the relevant Committees. We think this is showing an unfair bias in favour of the developer and this has prevented full and proper scrutiny of the Application so far!!

We are also concerned that what Taylor Wimpey PLC is doing is contrary to their own declared CSR policies and position so wonder to what extent the Board are aware of what is happening with this site. Are these CSR policies - to treat neighbour's and communities with respect, and as they would wish to be treated themselves, simply hollow meaningless words or do they mean something?
