Clip Studio Paint Should Respect Artists’ Workflow and Tools

Clip Studio Paint Should Respect Artists’ Workflow and Tools

Petition to Celsys: Clip Studio Paint should remain a tool for artists, not against them
This is not an impulsive complaint. I’m writing this as someone who actively works with Clip Studio Paint and has seen how recent decisions are making the software harder to use instead of better.
Creative software is not just another app. It is part of how we think, how we draw, and how we work. When that environment changes without control, it’s not an “update” — it becomes a disruption.
I want to address three specific points:
1. Interface and visual clarity (Color Icon tool)
Recent changes toward more uniform, circular icons reduce visual clarity.
This is not about aesthetics. It’s about function.
Many of us rely on visual memory and quick recognition. The Color Icon tool used to be clear and efficient. The current direction makes elements look too similar, slowing down workflow and increasing unnecessary cognitive load.
What we are asking for:
The option to choose between the current interface and the classic one.
No loss of customization over time.
Different artists work differently. The software should respect that.
2. Cloud storage reduction
Reducing cloud storage from 100GB to 10GB while maintaining a subscription model breaks the balance that previously existed.
This is not only about storage size. It’s about trust.
Many users built their workflow around that capacity. Removing it without a proper solution directly affects daily work.
What we are asking for:
Restore a functional level of included cloud storage for subscribers, comparable to what was originally offered.
Do not charge extra for something that was already part of a paid service.
3. Real control over files (local alternative)
If cloud storage is no longer sufficient, then we need proper local control.
The current file management system is unclear, restrictive, and does not provide real ownership over assets.
What is needed:
An official tool to export and import libraries and projects in a clear and reliable way.
The ability to work with local folders without breaking the internal database.
Full transparency over where files are stored and how they are managed.
This is not an extra feature. It is a basic requirement for professional work.
Closing
Clip Studio Paint became popular because it respected artists: their workflow, their habits, and their space.
Recent changes are moving away from that.
This is not about rejecting progress. It’s about not losing what already worked.
Software should adapt to the artist. Not the other way around.
