I would start my request to KEEP the Clinton Redskins mascot and logo by saying there are many worthy causes and movements that are worthyof change, but this isn’t one of them. 

Clinton Community Schools is where I have lived for nearly 40 years. Through my time in our schools system I have never, and I repeat NEVER, been exposed to a system of racism, inappropriate cultural appropriation or any administration that has disrespected Native Americans or minorities in any way.  

The proposal that some are suggesting to change our name and logo is an extension of an over the top narrative of virtue signaling. 

The community that I have been raised in are people of integrity, honor and stand up for the rights of all people.  

Clinton is strong enough to stand up for racial equality, police, and those who want to protest inequitable treatment simultaneously.

None of these causes requires us to change our mascot, logo or the bedrock of who we are as a village.

If you have ever or currently live in Clinton and have made it this far in my narrative I would ask you to sign this petition and stand up for OUR community. 

Do you have the courage to stand up for the place you love? 

I would remind you that if someone doesn’t stand up  and say NO. The next thing you might see is THIS school system renamed and rebranded just like some other schools nearby.
