Petition to Appoint Donna Popowich and Gina Scaduto to the Clifton Municipal Holiday Decorating Committee

We, the undersigned, respectfully urge the Clifton City Council to appoint Donna Popowich and Gina Scaduto to the Clifton Municipal Holiday Decorating Committee without further delay.

The suggestion to establish this committee originated from Ms. Popowich and Ms. Scaduto, who have both demonstrated a vested interest in improving the holiday decorations at Clifton City Hall. Their consistent involvement and vocal advocacy reflect their dedication to creating tasteful, inclusive, and budget-conscious decorations that all citizens of Clifton can enjoy.

On January 21, 2025, both individuals were listed on the City Council agenda for appointment consideration. However, a motion was made by Councilwoman Pino to table these appointments to explore whether additional candidates would come forward. This decision appears to be an intentional delay, as no other citizens have expressed interest or submitted actionable suggestions to enhance the holiday decorations at City Hall.

Ms. Popowich and Ms. Scaduto have consistently demonstrated their willingness to devote the time, energy, and effort necessary to elevate the holiday decorations at City Hall. By stalling their appointments, the City Council risks disregarding the enthusiasm and expertise of two citizens actively seeking to make meaningful contributions to our community.

This petition serves as a formal request to the Clifton City Council to take immediate action and appoint Donna Popowich and Gina Scaduto to the Holiday Decorating Committee. Furthermore, we emphasize that the community's voices must not be disregarded. Delaying these appointments undermines the will of the citizens, who expect their elected officials to act in the best interest of the community.
