Keep Clearmeadows neighborhood in Fisher's Landing Elementary
Approximately two weeks ago, you should have received notification forwarded to you from the Clearmeadows management company (The Management Group, TMG) regarding a proposed Evergreen School District boundary re-classification. The proposed boundary change would move the majority of Clearmeadows families from Fisher’s Landing Elementary (rated 8/10 or 4 star) to Columbia Valley Elementary (rated at a 5/10 or 2 star) cited from reputable online sources. Aside from the obvious impact to students, this will impact all homeowners in Clearmeadows. Property values could be depreciated as much as 10-20% due to the quality differential of the neighborhood schools.
We, Clearmeadows residents, ask that Evergreen Public Schools reconsider the boundary change proposal that moves most of the Clearmeadows neighborhood from Fisher’s Landing Elementary to Columbia Valley Elementary. Fisher’s Landing is the nearest school thus being the safest to travel to/from (by vehicle or as pedestrians). Most families from our neighborhood purchased in Clearmeadows with the reasonable expectation that it would remain our neighborhood school due to geographic proximity. Many of us paid a premium for our homes because of FLE being the highest-ranking school in the district. We unanimously felt our children’s education was important enough to prioritize the school proximity over views, lot size or build quality. We will not stand for a move to a much lower ranking school which will impact the desirability of our neighborhood, home values and, most importantly, our children’s formative years.
Please note that a separate petition is in circulation within Clearmeadows regarding legal counsel on this matter. We expect a fair, equitable and transparent decision will be made regarding the boundaries.
