The Issue

We begin with three simple vows as a community:

  • I will not litter or spit in public spaces.
  • I will gently educate others when I see such behavior.
  • I will actively contribute to keeping Ghatkopar clean and respectful.

Ghatkopar is more than just a locality—it is a thriving, close-knit community known for its cultural vibrancy, strong values, and spirit of togetherness. From its bustling markets to its active residential societies, Ghatkopar reflects the energy and pride of its people. It is a place we proudly call home.

However, despite all its strengths, one persistent issue continues to affect the quality of life in our area—littering, especially in the form of spitting in public spaces. This growing nuisance not only diminishes the beauty of our surroundings but also poses serious health risks. It contributes to the spread of diseases, creates unhygienic conditions, and leaves a negative impression on residents and visitors alike. Walking through our own neighborhood and witnessing such neglect is disheartening.

At a time when we are about to welcome the auspicious period of Chaturmas of our beloved Param Namramuni Gurudev, it becomes even more important to reflect on the values he embodies—cleanliness, discipline, and respect for our environment.

Chaturmas is not just a spiritual observance; it is an opportunity for inner and outer transformation. Our surroundings should reflect the purity and positivity that this sacred time represents.

As members of the Parasdham community, we feel a collective responsibility to bring about this change. We believe that awareness and community action can shift mindsets. Instead of ignoring the issue, we must educate and encourage one another to act responsibly.

We also urge the local municipal authorities to take proactive steps—such as increasing the number of public dustbins, improving visibility of anti-littering signage and fines, and organizing cleanliness drives in collaboration with Arham Yuva Seva Group. Awareness campaigns highlighting the health hazards of littering and spitting can further reinforce responsible behavior.

By signing this petition, you are standing for a cleaner, healthier, and more respectful Ghatkopar—one that truly reflects the teachings of Param Namramuni Gurudev during Chaturmas and beyond.

Let us come together to create a lasting impact. Sign this petition and be a part of the change.
