As a lifelong supporter and a season ticket holder for the Florida Gators football team, I along with many others pour our hearts, souls, and hard-earned money into supporting our team. We do this not just out of love for the game, but for the sheer belief in the potential and capabilities of our beloved Gators.

However, we are repeatedly disappointed by the lack of investment and improvement in our football program. Hardworking fans like myself spend hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars every season only to see the resources squandered by the University Athletics Association (UAA). It feels as though our contributions are in vain, as there seems to be no significant progress towards developing a winning football program.

While we understand that the UAA has multiple responsibilities, it is nonetheless vital that they prioritize investment in our football program. For instance, in 2019, the Big Ten Conference reported a total revenue of nearly $780 million, with the majority committed to improving their athletic programs demonstrating the effectiveness of proper investment (Source: NCAA). We believe the UAA should follow a similar path.

It's time to reassess the priorities of the UAA, to ensure that our contributions are directed towards the enhancement of our football program. Our football team deserves a fair opportunity to achieve success, and we, the loyal fans, deserve a team that reflects our investment, passion, and devotion.

Thus, we call on the President at the University of Florida to demonstrate tangible investment and improvement in our football program by cleaning house in the UAA. A strong and competitive football team can bolster community spirit, enhancing the reputation of the University, and create a positive feedback loop that benefits everyone involved.
