Clean Air Now: A Petition for Urgent Action on Air Pollution in Begusarai, Bihar
The Issue
We, the youth residents of Begusarai, Bihar, call on the Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate change, Government of India, to take immediate and decisive action to address the severe air pollution crisis in our city. Our city, Begusarai, consistently ranks among the world's most polluted cities, with AQI index consistently reaching dangerous levels. This is a dire situation that is having a detrimental effect on the health and well-being of our citizens.
The major contributors to this problem are the Indian Oil Refinery, fertilizer factory, thermal power plant, and other industries in the city, which are releasing harmful pollutants into the air at alarming levels. These industries have a responsibility to reduce their emissions and prioritize the health and well-being of our citizens. We call on the Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate change, Government of India, to regulate these industries and implement strict measures to reduce air pollution.
Air pollution is a serious public health issue that affects everyone, but it disproportionately affects vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions. The World Health Organization states that air pollution is responsible for 7 million deaths worldwide every year. In Begusarai, the residents are facing a number of health issues such as respiratory problems, heart diseases, cancer and many more due to air pollution.
We cannot continue to sacrifice the health of our citizens for the sake of economic growth. We demand that the Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate change, Government of India, takes immediate action to address this crisis and implement policies that prioritize the health and well-being of our citizens over economic gain.
We call on the Minister to invest in clean energy and sustainable development, which will not only improve air quality but also create jobs and stimulate economic growth. We also urge the government to invest in public transportation and encourage citizens to use it instead of personal vehicles, which are a major contributor to air pollution.
We also call on the Minister, to launch a public awareness campaign to educate citizens on the dangers of air pollution and how they can take action to reduce their own emissions. We also urge the government to invest in monitoring and enforcement of air pollution regulations to ensure that industries are held accountable for their actions.
Moreover, we, the youth of Begusarai, are also calling for the involvement and contribution of the youth in this cause. We believe that the youth have a vital role to play in addressing this crisis and we are willing to volunteer and take active steps to help improve the air quality in our city. We call on the Minister of Environment,Forest, and Climate change, Government of India, to engage and empower the youth in this effort by providing opportunities for education and participation in initiatives to reduce air pollution.
In conclusion, we call on the Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate change, Government of India, to take immediate and decisive action to address the severe air pollution crisis in our city. We demand that the Minister prioritizes the health and well-being of our citizens by implementing strict measures to reduce air pollution and invest in sustainable development. We call on the government to involve and empower the youth in this effort and we urge our fellow citizens to join us in this petition to demand clean air for Begusarai. We have the right to breathe clean air and it's the responsibility of the government to ensure that. Together, we can make a difference and bring about a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
