Appoint Rick Reda to Ward 11 City Council

Appoint Rick Reda to Ward 11 City Council
The Issue
I am proud to be a Clarksvillian. Like so many others here, I am the son of an Army veteran and hero. I have had the distinct pleasure of calling Clarksville my lifelong home. It was here that I met my beautiful wife of 30 years, and we were fortunate enough to raise our daughter right here in our hometown.
Community has always been at the heart of our family, and we instilled those values in our daughter, who now works for DCS helping children. With God and family at the heart of my every move, I have been able to grow farther than my wildest dreams could have anticipated.
The desire to make a positive, lasting difference in our community is what guides me every day. During the 80’s I began a 9-year career with the City of Clarksville Street Department. There, under David Smith, I learned how to operate heavy machinery, as well as the finer and practical details of creating infrastructure.
I got my start in business as a car broker. It was there I learned the ins and outs of running a business. I was able to learn what to do, and when to seek counsel from others.
In 2009, I took a leap of faith and started Reda Home Builders. Since then, we have built every kind of home of which you can think. Recently the housing crisis has heavily impacted our teachers, police officers, nurses, firefighters, junior enlisted soldiers, and so many other essential workers. We have been working diligently to build homes for those people. We have shifted focus from traditional housing, and have expanded to meet needs through townhomes, condominiums, and multifamily housing.
Sitting on this council provides no personal benefit to me. Clarksville has given so much to me, and it is time to give back in a meaningful way. Working from all sides of the issue has cultivated a well-rounded understanding of infrastructure and community.
At the core of our current issues are lack of housing, and inadequate infrastructure. In my company, I manage budgeting and I know the best time to bid out work and when it is better to get the job done in house. Those are the kind of practical skills I have cultivated and want to bring to the table.
Over a lifetime of living in Clarksville and working literally and figuratively to build it every day, I have created the relationships necessary to create effective and sustainable policy. I live in Ward 11, policies and initiatives need to equitable for every single Clarksville resident.
Philanthropy & Community Involvement. Words without actions are like a car without wheels. When I say community is my passion, I have made it a priority in my business and personal life to put it in action.
I do not like to talk about myself or put a spotlight on the things I do, because I do not do it for attention or recognition. However, I have been fortunate enough to be in a position where I can give back to my community. For example, I have made donations to many organizations to help make the Community a better place, from Young life, Camp Rainbow, ASPIRE, to Churches, building homes with Habitat for humanity and many more. When I speak about a need for infrastructure, including emergency management, I speak from a place of action and understanding.
Thank you for your time, your leadership, and your dedication to our community. Regardless of sitting in the Ward 11 Seat or not, I look forward to our continued collaboration and partnership.
