On Tuesday, July 21st the CCSD Board of School Trustees voted 4-2 to move forward with year-long courses for high school students, while keeping middle school students in a semester based program, finishing 4 year-long courses in one semester. The original plan was for this to also apply to high school students as well. 

It makes much more sense for high school students to have the opportunity to be enrolled in semester based courses, especially those graduating in 2021. It's difficult to stay motivated to do well in school when you are physically in the classroom receiving instruction. If we keep the current plan, students will not stay motivated to do well or possibly even finish high school at all.

There would be much less push back from students if they knew they only had to endure each online course for one semester. Also, seniors would have the opportunity to graduate early and begin the next stage of their lives. Please listen to the future leaders of this community and give us some sense of control over our own futures, especially since so much has been taken from us already.
