Clarion Housing to Remove Cladding from block 1-5 Cray view close BR5

The Issue

I am a leasehold resident living in a 4 story flat. A EWS1 fire safety assessment was conducted on the External Wall. The report concluded that the block is "NOT" safe due to the high presence of high pressure laminate cladding panel, which are installed onto an unknown insulation.

I am very concerned about the safety of all residents living in block 1-5 Cray View Close BR5 in the event, should there be a fire. Likewise, I fear for the safety of my 3 year old son living in an unsafe flat. Due to the cladding on the external wall the flats are currently valued at £0 and all residents still owes a large mortgage. Mortgage lenders are currently NOT offering loan on these flats due to the cladding.  Additionally, residents are still liable for service charge for an unsafe building.

Therefore, I would like "Clarion Housing" to accept liability as a Landlord and immediately remove the cladding, which is classified as combustible materials from the external wall with immediate effect. This is to ensure the safety of all residents.

Finally, I am calling on our Local MP Gareth Bacon to help advocate on our behalf to ensure that Clarion Housing fulfil and meet the government guideline and legislation issued in January 2020.

The number one priority of this petition, is successful, would mean that all residents are safe in their flat and its Value reinstated.
