Clarence Jalloh must be sentenced for Community Safety
The issue
The safety of our community in Perth, WA, Australia is under threat. Clarence Jalloh, a man who brutally murdered a 22-year-old girl on the streets of Perth, must pay for the crime he committed. He must be sentence accordingly and must not be release into our community. His actions has personally affected me and many others deeply. We fear that if proper sentencing is not applied, other innocent lives will be at risk in the future and crimes rate on the streets of Perth will continue to go on the rise.
According to the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC), released prisoners have a reoffending rate of 44.8%. This statistic emphasizes the potential danger we face if Jalloh is set free. Furthermore, research conducted by AIC shows that violent offenders are more likely to reoffend than non-violent ones which is what Clarence Jalloh's criminal profile has proven.
We cannot allow our community's safety to be compromised by decisions that do not take into account the potential risks involved with releasing violent criminals back into society without proper evaluation.
How can the government ensure the safety of our community and make sure this action is not repeated? They must serve appropriate justice as per the law. Because murder is a serious crime, those guilty of it must face the consequences and be sentenced for a long duration of time so that they can understand the gravity of the crime committed to prevent reoffending.
We urge the government to consider their decision to sentence and keep Clarence Jalloh in custody for the safety and peace of mind of all residents in Perth, WA Australia. Please sign this petition to voice your support for our cause.
