There are many reasons why I Ready should be abolished from the typical Public Schooling System. First off, it takes way too long. Each lesson may take up to an hour or longer and if you fail it you must retake it. Not only is that a waste of time but some people don't have free hours to spend. Some have jobs after school or maybe something pops up. Not only that, the lessons are absurd. You get these characters in which they both are constantly annoying and don't get to the point. For example, if you want to click the answer, you have to wait until they finish up their pointless conversation that takes up half of the time space. I don't understand why the developers think it's cool to add in these "rad" characters when they are freakish and I would personally be concerned for their well being if I saw them in real life. The lessons don't teach you anything either. It's merely a review from what you learned in class but it is worse than that. It's horrifying to say the least. The Bake Stars are constantly annoying the child and it is awful. Their voice acting is just as bad. Honestly, if any school district adapted to add I Ready into their WHOLE district and make us do about 5 a week, it's bad. It happened to us. If you do take about 5 a week and each one is 45 minutes long, that'd be over 3 hours of useless knowledge. For example, I was once on an I Ready lesson and after an hour of typing in answers and reading text, I got the quiz. I got a 25 but I had a 99 in reading (Last day of Quarter). It is useless and a waste of time for all kids, plus it's cringe-worthy. The last part is the diagnostic test. They put you at a grade level that they think you should be at. That's not it at all though. Many people don't try less than halfway through. Many open up other tabs to avoid doing this. This being said, many kids get put way below where they should be. Another thing about the diagnostic test is that it is longer than most lessons. Math was tolerable but reading purely was horrifying even for the jolliest of readers. They shouldn't just ban I Ready but completely abolish the idea and thought of it. The districts should get their money back and we should return to something much better such as IXL or MobyMax. MobyMax has done some things very well such as giving you reasonable lessons that don't go crazy. The MobyMax lessons actually teach quite well. They are around 5-6 slides and is a nice, short review. Also, the test isn't a short 8 questions, they're about 15 which is enough to see if they really learned the subject. IXL is even better for letting you select which lessons you'd like to take. This was very critical for me because it is a much better solution rather than being forced to take select lessons such as I Ready. And to Conclude my lesson, this is why school districts across the world should not only ban I Ready but abolish it completely unless they decide to fix their mess of a thing that they try to acclaim is a website for learning. I rest my case.
