Due to COVID 19 safety protocols, the City University of New York Athletics Program has been cancelled since last March. As we learn more about the virus, we learn the proper ways to prevent the spread while gradually getting back to normal circumstances. CUNY student athletes know that we will follow the protocols put in place to assure we can compete in a save and competitive space once again. We are proud to have the support of our coaches, athletic directors, and CUNY athletics department in this endeavor.

Student athletes have a lot of pride in the schools they represent. Athletics is a major factor behind the high retention and graduate rates seen in our athletes. Classroom performance, mental health, and confidence see massive benefits when our students are participating in their respective sports. Many students have sacrificed a year of their post graduate lives for one last chance to represent their schools.

If you feel that the CUNY student athlete community deserves the chance to represent their schools in a safe and well monitored manner, we would appreciate your support in this petition. On behalf of the entire community, we are proud to represent this city as well as our respective universities. We don't want to see that opportunity slip away.
