Allow BMX Bikes in the new Team Pain Skatepark being built at Krusen Field.
The Issue
To whom it may concern,
My name is John Ballard, and I have currently been doing the sport of BMX for the past 4 years. A couple of us riders, including myself, have been riding the current Skate park located at Krusen Field for the past few years. We also have been kicked out quite a few times, due to the rule of no bikes. I would like to point to 3 areas as to why I feel Bikes should be allowed in the new Skate park to come.
First, BMX, or freestyle bike riding, is a good way to spend time and energy, and is just as much a sport as Skateboarding. Over the years BMX has moved its way into becoming a sport as big if not bigger than the sport of Skateboarding, and with a sport becoming that big, that ultimately brings followers into the sport. That's were my fellow riders and myself come in. With that being said, now you have kids in your community that would love to have something to ride and call their own. That being the new Skate park that plans to be built out at Krusen Field.
Second, you might be saying that bikes will tear up the fresh concrete with, Pegs, Handlebars, or Pedals. This is where I'd like to point out the fact that in the past few years BMX companies have been making all these bike parts in Plastic. Last time I checked, all Skateboard Trucks, are metal so Skateboards are now more of a risk of chipping concrete copings than bikes. Please consider making a rule stating plastic pegs, pedals, and handlebar bar ends are to be on bikes when riding the Skate park.
Third, BMX has given us all a joy in our lives. We have a thrill when we walk out of our house on a nice summer day and hop on our bikes to go ride a Skate park. It means as much to us, as a Skateboard to a Skater. It keeps us away from drugs and helps us to live a clean life. And with no Skate park to go to we are forced to ride "Private Property" and fear getting in trouble, because we are not going to just sit inside and not ride our bikes.
In Conclusion, Please consider this petition to allow BMX bikes in the new Skate park to come. Give us a safe place to ride our bikes and practice our tricks. The old Skate parks ground is not safe at all and it is not fair for the Skateboarders to get something new that we cant ride. Please consider the rules of having plastic parts on the bikes when riding the park. And please help keep all kids in the city of Zephyrhills happy; Happy that we don't have to worry about getting in trouble with the law for riding a Bike.
Sincerely,
John Ballard, and the rest of the Zephyrhills BMX Community.
