Build a neighborhood park in the Tierra Buena area

Build a neighborhood park in the Tierra Buena area

The Issue

On behalf of Tierra Buena residents, I respectfully petition the Yuba City City council, Yuba City Planning Commission, and Yuba City Parks and Recreation Commission to build a neighborhood park in the Tierra Buena area.

Neighborhood parks provide a safe place for children and teens to play. Parks promote a positive community by providing a place for people to meet. Parks promote healthy more productive residents by providing a place to exercise. Parks provide a place for neighborhood activities that helps reduce crime

  • Boarded by Township, Butte House Road, Hooper Road, and Colusa Highway, Tierra Buena has 1,260 houses and with an average of 4 people per house that's over 5,000 people, 8% of Yuba City's 65,000 population.
  • Children in Tierra Buena are forced to play in the street and vacant lots which is unsafe and unhealthy.
  • There were 3 housing developments built in Yuba City at the same time; Regency, Shanghai and Walnut Park/Teal Hollow in Tierra Buena, only Regency and Shanghai received a park complete with a large grass area, water feature, playground and covered table area.
  • Lastly, the new homes built in Walnut Park and Teal Hollow were sold with a required fee that was to be used for a park and school.

We want our park. Thank you!
