Small town business owner of 18+ years, Tammi Johns, had a beautiful mural painted on the side of her restaurant as a surprise birthday present from her mother. Someone reported the mural to the city as a violation. Unknown by most there is a variance fee of $720, due to the mural being a surprise there was no request filed to the city before hand. This beautiful mural is now facing a code violation and will soon be painted over, the cost of the fee well over exceeds the cost of the mural itself. From what I understand the city will not waive the fee or remove the variance granted in 2013 because “they would have to refund past business/building owners the same fee”. Sign to help Tammi and Green Shutters, who has supported our small town time and time again for almost 20 years keep the mural. Also for other business owners who wish to do the same in the future. Beatification of our small town should not come as such a steep price, this variance need removed or significantly lowered.
