Passion Kelley started this petition to City of Wichita, Sedgwick County, Kansas

Today, October 2nd around 10:15am, I witnessed a crash involving two motor vehicles and unfortunately bystanders enjoying their daily cup of coffee. The accident occurred at the intersection of 11th and Bitting in the Riverside neighborhood of Wichita, Kansas.  The truck traveling south bound on Bitting Street was speeding and failed to stop at the stop sign, hitting a vehicle travelling East. The truck lost control and drove onto the sidewalk and outdoor patio at R Coffeehouse on the southeast corner of 11th and Bitting.  One gentleman, a neighborhood regular was taken to a local hospital for serious injuries while others were treated on scene.

I’m starting this petition because adding a traffic light could potentially prevent another crash like this from happening.  This intersection is dangerous for motorists as well as pedestrians. People fly through these stop signs daily. This is a serious issue for our community. The City of Wichita needs to hear their people and add traffic lights that directs cars safely when passing through this intersection.

This intersection is waiting for another incident like this to occur. Somebody could have been easily killed today.  Stops sign can easily be ran through and clearly shows that it’s not serving any justice at the moment. Implementing a traffic light at 11th & Bitting will save lives and help prevent incidents like this from happening.

Each day something is not done about this is another day we all risk losing someone, a family member, a neighbor, a customer, a pet, and even our own lives. We are all at risk.  We as a community need to keep ourselves and others safe so I, Passion Kelley, a current Riverside resident is asking the ciry to implement this traffic light.
