Ventura PD needs to investigate the hit and run on 6/7/2020

The Issue

On 6/7/2020, a Black Lives Matter protest was held at the Ventura County Government Center. The gathering included an estimated 1,500 members of the community. The protest was both peaceful and unifying, with public speakers and an organized march. Law enforcement officials were present throughout the day to observe the event.

However, around 6:15pm, a vehicle drove through a group of protestors. This incident was captured on drone video, on protestor cell phones, as well as on traffic cameras. The evidence makes it clear that the driver was fully aware people were in the path of the vehicle. The white truck fled the scene after hitting several people. Ventura Police Department has been contacted to report the incident. The official story the law enforcement is accepting is that the driver felt unsafe enough to stop at the scene and did not realize that any person had been hit. Despite receiving photo and video evidence of the incident, the police department will not consider opening an investigation.

We need your help to garner enough attention to make our officials hold this individual accountable. This type of violence should be condemned in our community.
