We Demand Answers After Odd Smell in Vallejo

We Demand Answers After Odd Smell in Vallejo
The Issue
Tuesday night, September 20th, fumes covered Vallejo, causing hundreds of people to seek medical attention. Some people described it as petroleum gas or burning tar/rubber. They complained of dizziness, headaches, nausea, trouble breathing, burning eyes, nose and throat. A shelter in place was issued, but most of the citizens were not notified in a timely manner.
Wednesday morning an oil sheen was found in San Pablo bay which was 40 yards wide and a mile long. It was later said that more oil was found by a refinery in Rodeo, just a 13 minute drive from Vallejo. The oil has since "disappeared", according to local news. It's now said that the two were "unrelated" but I disagree. The refinery in question, Phillips 66, has been neglecting health and safety issues for three years straight; doing illegal burn offs of petroleum gas and oil. They've had numerous lawsuits against them and they're no doubt looking at one now, if it is their doing.
So far no one has given us any definitive answers, and we have a lot. Is the air truly safe? People are still feeling ill today! Just what is the sheen made of? Is it effecting wildlife, the bay and rivers? How much is moving upstream with the tides? Are the wetlands in danger? Especially those along hwy 37 that were just restored. Too many questions. No answers in this age of science? I feel we're being left out. They know more than they let on, and a lot of us in the city know it. Help us get these answers instead of being afraid. If we make enough noise, maybe somebody somewhere will fess up.
