The northern sections of Pretoria have very few dog-friendly parks compared with the rest of Pretoria, especially parks with access to hiking routes and/or fresh water. Currently, Derdepoort Park is an underused park with very few daily tourists. I have appealed to Derdepoort Park Recreation Resort to consider making it pet friendly. The area is one of very few with access to fresh water and is large enough to accommodate numerous guests as well as to implement hiking routes. 

The area used most often is the swimming pool area which is a separate fenced area and would thus not be impacted by the proposed change.
