Changing City of Surrey BC, Canada Noise Bylaws

Changing City of Surrey BC, Canada Noise Bylaws
The Issue
The City of Surrey BC, Canada has a noise bylaw that allows construction to be done on private property by owners on Sunday and Statutory holidays. This creates large amounts of noise from chainsaws, drills, hammering, etc. and can be heard in other people's backyards. The noise levels prevent neighbors from having their windows open as the noise is too excessive or from sitting in their backyard or front yard in order to relax because there is too much noise and it is too loud to be able to relax. Other cities like Vancouver, B.C. have a noise bylaw which does not allow for construction on private property during Sunday's and Statutory holidays so people can relax and not be bothered by loud noises. The City of Surrey has a large growing population and the bylaws should be changed to reflect this so people can have some peace and relaxation time from construction on the weekends and statutory holidays.
