Over the year's, The Westend Community has utilized Roberta Rowe ( Westend Park) for events and outside recreational use. There used to be proper lighting at this park as well as electricity to the pavilion there that we could use for outside events. But now there is no lighting and the electricity outlets there needs to be wired and fixed properly for use for future outside events that may last after sun down. Also we have a new park located on N West St. In Sikeston Missouri which is also located on the Westend of town. It has electricity and lights in the pavilions. But there is no lighting to light up the park. Such as on the Basketball Court, The Parking Lot, around the Playground equipment, and The Walking Trail. Not having proper light can be dangerous to the kids and the community especially after sun down. Without proper Lighting, it makes it easier for someone to get hurt or kidnapped. We as tax payers know that there is funding to upgrade these parks. Because there are other parks in the town that's not located on the Westend of town that has proper lighting. There has been a attempt to get this lighting in the parks I speak of but nothing has been done to resolve this problem. So I ask that everyone please sign this petition, so that the city know that we have a voice as well and we need just as much attention to the Westend Community as much as the attention is being focused on the downtown area and others in the city limits. This move may not mean much to some, but it's a start on changing and bettering our community.
