Allow Backyard Chickens in Sidney

Allow Backyard Chickens in Sidney

The Issue

In the wake of the pandemic and the rising issue of food security (prompting record sales in garden shops to the point that seeds are sold out everywhere with an amazing amount of new interest in growing our own food), it is time for Sidney to take action and finally allow backyard chickens like every other municipality around us.

Backyard chickens help our environment in many ways. They reduce the significant environmental impact caused by factory farming, provide waste free food for families with their eggs, process household food waste as their food source, provide organic fertilizer, are beneficial pest reducers in backyard gardens and many other environmental benefits.

Time to get with the program and allow people in Sidney to reduce their carbon footprint by allowing backyard chickens in residential homes so we can all have the comfort or a source of food when we need it.
