The Peace Candle of the World is being considered to be built around or moved somewhere else. I am starting this petition because this candle is part of scappoose history. It was built in 1971. Originally had a gas flame and now has a electric flame. I think the citizens of Scappoose need to step up and make sure this candle is built around and left where it is along with the red barn. I'm tired of these outsiders moving to this city and these developers trying to change everything we hold dearly in this city. I have been a resident here since 1981. If you love Scappoose, do not let this happen. It will not be scappoose anymore without the 50 foot candle letting you know you are finally home after a long day at work or after a long trip.
