Make Spaying and Neutering An Ordinance in The City of Sachse

Make Spaying and Neutering An Ordinance in The City of Sachse
The Issue
To Council Members and the Residents of Sachse,
I am asking for support to make spaying and neutering an ordinance. In 2018 when I was still living with my parents, we took care of a stray cat that was black and white. To make matters worse we have another neighbor in the same street that has an all-black male cat running loose. The male cat never came to our side of the street, but he was the father to all of these kittens.
At first, we fed the black and white cat, and named her Molita. We knew Molita had kittens before, but Molita got pregnant in December 2018. She was going to give birth to kittens in the cold. My family took her in and explored all of their options. We wanted to make sure Molita and her kittens were not going to be euthanized. Taking them to a shelter was too risky and rescues were too full. Kittens are most likely to be adopted and the older cats are the most likely not to get adopted or worst-case scenario euthanized. My parents took Molita in and in January she gave birth to 5 kittens. We found very little sight of Molita’s other previous kittens and the number of kittens we saw didn’t add up because she had many litters before. We should have seen our neighborhood full of her kittens running around. We realized we have a situation in our neighborhood, the vicious matting cycle would never end, and the possible other kittens were killed. Since Sachse was mostly woods before all the construction began, they were most likely killed by coyotes or runover. My family tried educating our neighbor on why spaying is important and informed them Molita their cat is pregnant. They did not care, ignored our concerns and allowed matting in our neighborhood.
To make matters worse Molita had other litters before we saved her new litter in December and saw a few of her children outside. We saw a young thin cat that looked exactly like Molita and it was a girl. It was Molita’s daughter and we named her MJ (for molita junior). We fed MJ just like we did for her mom Molita. Black cat (the father) was still running outside and MJ was outside because she was birthed outside by Molita. Well MJ got pregnant. My parents have no room in our home due to Molita’s kittens currently living with them. We fed MJ as usual but this time she went to your shelter (Sachse) instead of living outside. We are concerned for mom, the kittens, dad and irresponsible behavior of pet owners.
I called the Sachse Animal Shelter because this vicious pattern will continue unless we stop it. Sachse was a small country city but they are expanding the city by building more homes and apartments. The more people that come to live in Sachse, means more pets that come to our city. We were suggested by the Sachse Animal Shelter to get a trap, the shelter can come to their door and educate them and see if they are in compliance for rabies and vaccines.
I am asking the city of Sachse to see if an ordinance can be placed in Sachse on spaying and neutering. The city of garland has done an excellent job trying to control the population of animals in their city and to prevent their shelter having a high rate kill. Matting is part of the problem why animals are multiplying, and they get surrendered to the shelter. Too many animals are being surrendered, they have no more room and make room by euthanizing animals. The Garland Animal Shelter were getting backlash because of their euthanization rates. It is mostly the communities fault allowing non-fixed animals running the streets and matting as much as they want. Spaying and neutering are part of being responsible by the city and pet owners. The city of Sachse animal shelter will eventually reach its max capacity and fosters/rescues won’t have room to take in any more animals. All because we allow irresponsible pet owners allowing their pets to breed and pretend it’s not an issue for the city or their community. Please tell me what is beneficial to animals matting and multiplying leaving a burden to the community and shelter? I understand under some special circumstances that animals can’t be fixed due to health problems or age. I hope not to see any more litters, no more kittens being born outside being killed by coyotes or cars, to prevent placing animals in shelters or rescue or fosters putting them at their max capacity.
I am asking for a change in the city of Sachse and hope this encourages other cities to make spaying and neutering an ordinance. I hope to bring awareness and change. My voice and opinion alone won't help. Please help me bring awareness to the City of Sachse of this issue by signing this petition. Thank you very much for your signature and support
