Change the name of Confederate Park in Rock Hill, SC.

The Issue

Rock Hill, South Carolina is a city that holds tightly to the ideals of The Friendship Nine, Or The Rock Hill Nine, a sit-in staged at McCrory's lunch counter in 1961 during the civil rights movement of the 1960s, resulting in the participants being sent to jail. When entering the city, one can see the slogan "No Room For Racism," displayed for all to see. So, why does the city also keep a Confederate namesake for one of the city's most beautiful and central-most parks?

I propose we change the name to something more representative of the common ideas shared by community members and what we stand for, like Friendship Park, or Friendship Nine Park.
