Reduce the traffic volume on Bissett Drive

The Issue

Bissett Drive, a non-artery road in a quiet residential neighborhood in Richmond, is now stressed and burdened by high traffic volumes, which make it no longer safe and pleasant to live there. We request that City of Richmond take immediate actions to reduce the traffic volume on Bissett by paving the Francis trail section between No. 4 Road and Arrowsmith Drive (yellow), which would divert much of the high traffic from the townhouse complex and high-density houses along Arrowsmith.

Due to the poor design, Bissett Drive is the only way for almost three quarters of the neighborhood-block to access No. 4 Rd (blue). Normally, a residential street serves 30-60 houses and even the busiest through-ways/gates only serve about 150-200 houses. Yet Bissett Drive serves over 300 houses and townhouse units. The large curve where it meets Arvida Drive also makes it even more dangerous for cars and walkers. Personally, I worry about my daughter's safety as she crosses the street every day to go to school. We thus urge the City to turn Francis trail into a through way. This would significantly reduce the traffic on Bissett and and bring peace and safety back to the residents of Bissett Drive.
