There is currently no regulation of rent or annual rent increases in the State of Nevada nor the City of Reno.

This needs to be regulated.  In the last two years, I am facing a 40% increase in rent.  I have lived in Northern Nevada for 24 years.  I have owned four homes and served the community as a firefighter.  I have been forced to rent for ten years since my divorce.  In the last ten years, the housing market has skyrocketed out of control.

With that said, renters have been at the will of their landlords without regulation by the state or cities.

The cities and the State are on the verge of losing Nevada natives and residents who have loved and supported their local communities for decades.

I am asking the State of Nevada and the City of Reno to protect renters with state mandated regulation of annual increases and maximum rent by square footage. This will allow long term supporters of the state to afford a reasonable rent, continue to support the economy of Nevada and work toward home ownership in the state they love.

This will allow renters who have supported this state and city, for decades in my case, to remain in the city and state they love.

Have our elected officials forgotten the true meaning of “Battle Born?”
