For many years, the residents of Portsmouth, VA have been requesting assistance from the city for the placement of a traffic light at the intersection of Airline Blvd and Caroline Ave. There are frequent accidents on this stretch of road, due to vehicles travelling at speeds in excess of the speed limit and the lack of traffic lights.  

Residents, passers-by, mail carriers, delivery drivers, and students of the nearby school do not have a safe way to cross this large street. This poses a serious threat to the safety and well-being of the community as a whole.  

Yesterday morning (9/29/20), a mail carrier, Maggie White, beloved friend to all and mother of 3 was struck by a vehicle at this intersection. This could have been prevented.

UPDATE (10/01/20): Maggie has unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Please say a prayer and keep circulating this petition!
