My Granddaughter brought her 10 month old German Shepard Harlow and her puppies to this shelter as my Granddaughters apartment manager said either get rid of Harlow and her puppies or pay an additional $2100 in deposit. She had just rescued Harlow from an abusive owner and was in process of finding her another home when she was aware Harlow was going to have puppies. She contacted this shelter on 4/28/2016 and was given false information as to them accepting Harlow and her puppies and finding them a rescue and working with Harlow and the puppies to help them. My Granddaughter called every other day to see how Harlow and puppies were doing. On 5/7/2016 she called and was told Harlow and all 7 of her puppies had been put down!! Granddaughter met with the Kennel Supervisor Misty and was informed Harlow was aggressive and had to be put down and her puppies also as they had no one to care for them!! Horrific! Harlow was a new young Mother protecting her puppies and had just been moved from her secure home into this so called humane shelter. Of course she would be aggressive to protect her puppies anyone with any knowledge of animal behaviors and truly caring about animals would realize this about a new mother dog and her puppies. Intake did not tell my Granddaughter that Harlow and puppies could possibly be put down but insisted she sign their form surrendering her rights over to Inland Humane Society and charged her $170 for care and Vet services.  The Staffer, at time of surrender, said the shelter would do all they could to find them a rescue placement and to sign the surrender form it was a formality but the shelter will do all they can to place them all.  Granddaughter told them if they were not adoptable or any problem to contact her and she would come get them. After she got home and reread the form regarding giving shelter discretion to dispose of them if shelter felt necessary she called but no one got back with her. They killed them all in five days and after their death they communicated with Granddaughter. Kennel Supervisor Misty never contacted my Granddaughter prior to killing all of them to see if she could take them back as was requested.  When Kennel Supervisor Misty met with my Granddaughter told her they gave Harlow one week to adapt she didn't so they put her and puppies down.  We were told we needed a legal Subponea to get all of Harlow and her puppies records this shelter has. We contacted the CEO of this shelter and of course no return call. Inland Shelter identifies with being a member of SPCA stating it goes above and beyond to rescue animals in need and place them. This is a false front of the Inland Shelter and the City should remove SPCA from the title of this shelter. This is a kill shelter for profit only. Google this shelter's non-profit financials and you will see the CEO/Director of this shelter earns $200000+ a year. Read the 200+ reviews regarding how cruel these animals are treated, killed, and the poor customer service to the public- purpose is driven by profit gain only not animals come first - just as Harlow and her puppies didn't come first. The City needs to acknowledge the inhumane treatment of animals at this facility and be open to the truth of how this shelter is managed and make immediate changes.  We are trying to further all investigations on this shelter and the personnel  who operate the facility and our encouraging anyone who has a horrific encounter with this shelter to please do the same. You can contact SPCA LA Investigations or the National ASPCA Investigations and the City Manager of Pomona Calif as this shelter needs to be held accountable for inhumane treatment of animals and Harlow and her babies deaths must NOT be in vain. To many people have given this Shelter a negative rating for the City to turn a blind eye.  This is how this shelter makes money - surrender dogs, charge surrender fee, adoptable dogs that are cute get possibly placed, others like Harlow and Puppies get killed.  This is a pattern with this shelter and it starts at the top of the management chain ie: Director where policy is made.
