The biking community has become so big and is growing everyday and that’s all good except for the fact that they are dangerous for walkers. On the trails around Pittsburgh there are walkers, joggers, dog walkers and bikers. The trails are not very wide and we all have to navigate around. Bikers come from behind and are supposed to keep to the left, however there are non-bikers, walking in the opposite direction. The bikers will approach very fast and without warning. Mandatory bells will give the biker the ability to alert the walkers that they are approaching and the walkers will be sure to try to get out of the way. I started walking regularly back in April. I have been in so many closer calls with the bikers, it is very scary. A simple thing like making it mandatory for all bikes to have bells would ensure everyone stays safe.
