Save Petaluma Speedway

Save Petaluma Speedway
The Issue
We are a group of citizens from Petaluma, California, who aim to help preserve a valuable part of our local heritage. Petaluma Speedway has been running auto races at the Fairgrounds Speedway since 1961. This is one of the last remaining outdoor activities for the entire family on a Saturday night. The lease for the Speedway is up at the end of 2022 and there have been rumblings that developers have been courting the City, interested solely in financial gains. We aim to uphold what has contributed to the fabric of our town for multiple generations. What has and continues to contribute financially to our restaurants, hotels and small businesses every weekend that the track runs races. We'd like to see the track preserved for 4H and other agriculture groups who can benefit from it. There are certainly improvements that can be made to the facility but without extending the lease beyond 2022, it's not reasonable to expect the Promoter of the track to go out of pocket while dealing with an uncertain future. Please help us plead to the City of Petaluma that we wish to hold on to this rich part of our history and preserve the Speedway for generations to come.
