For the past 30 years, Riverbend Community Church in Ormond Beach has plagued residents in Ormond and Daytona Beach. Many children were sent to Riverbend Academy against their will instead of a proper public school and it stunted their mental and emotional growth. As adults, a lot of Riverbenders who were raised in the academy have had issues with drugs and sexual contact as adults. Many kids have left the Church once they realize how abusive it is. Back in the 2000s when I was there, non-harmful things like Harry Potter and Pokemon were banned, and parents were encouraged to beat their kids if they were caught with such "contraband". The church was also a supporter of child genital mutilation in the form of circumcision, and believed women were/are subservient to men.

Several leading heads at Riverbend were caught abusing children over the years. Robert Griffin II, a former elder at Riverbend Community Church, was arrested the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 6. 2021 for possessing child pornography, some of the victims in the photos were church members. The Daytona Beach News-Journal reported the images depicted girls ages 3 to 7 years old and 9 to 14 years old involved in sexual acts with men.

Back in 2013, an adult who was raised in Riverbend Academy, Duncan J. St.Gelais, 25, Ormond Beach, was arrested Jan. 9 as part of Operation Cardea.
Seminole County authorities said the 50 suspects arrested and charged in the weeklong operation communicated online, by phone and by email with detectives posing as teenagers or parents of teenagers. The men were arrested when they arrived at a location in Oviedo to have sex with the youths.

Please, may the crimes of Riverbend and Riverbend Academy come to light and this terrible church be shut down FOR GOOD.
