On Tuesday, June 25th, millions were impacted by the news that Desmond Amofah (also known as Etika), a beloved YouTube content creator and streamer, had taken his own life. Since the news of his death, many fans have paid their respects by contributing offerings to the Etika memorial located on the Manhattan Bridge, where Etika took his own life. 

Many of these offerings include food, paper, plastics, and other items that many would consider to be litter or trash. Before actions are taken against the memorial, whether it be by the City itself or through civilian intervention, we would like to propose a compromise: Have Desmond's name engraved on the Manhattan Bridge. We propose that either an engravement on a steel beam below the deck/roadway of the bridge, an engravement in the concrete along the side walkway, or a commemorative plaque, (whichever the City prefers,) is procured in order to honor Etika's memory while also abiding by New York City's Administrative Littering Code.

This petition will provide a permanent, yet clean memorial solution that both the City, its residents, and Desmond's fans can all appreciate.

We hope that the City of New York would consider this petition.
