Say no to Single-Use Plastic Bags and Styrofoam Containers in New West.

0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!

We are calling upon the City of New Westminster to explore the discontinuation of Styrofoam products and single use plastic bags at local city businesses. Will you join us?

Plastic bags and Styrofoam containers (PB&SC) are a bane on our ecosystem. Their long-lasting lifespan and carcinogenic nature makes them harmful in countless ways. These products are barely recycled and make up a large proportion of the garbage that ends up in landfills and our oceans.

There is a growing movement worldwide where local and national governments are leading the fight against Climate Change through enacting such measures. Recent examples include the Australia, European Union and even Canadian municipalities like Victoria, North Vancouver and Hamilton are either exploring or have already implemented a ban on PB&SC.

Our goal is to see New Westminster reduce its contribution to local and global pollution and adopt more sustainable practices for future generations to thrive

The signatures collected will be presented to the city's Environment Advisory Committee.Together, let’s have New Westminster take this important step towards combating climate change!
