Update: City Council is meeting on 6/16 to move forward to disassemble and ELIMINATE Parks and Recreation department - please voice your concerns to City Council before the meeting at 3:30 PM, as the City stated on 6/9 that they plan to move forward with the elimination of the department as a whole.

The City of Napa City Council is discussing dissolving the Department of Parks and Recreation 

Why does the City of Napa's Parks and Recreation matter? Ask the park users at Westwood hills, seeking a connection to nature during the shelter in place order.

Ask the thousands who take their dogs to Alston Park to stretch their legs and run their pet, and those with small children who’ve had to explain to their kids why they can’t go to the playground right now.

Ask the parents who can’t take their children to preschool at Las Flores, the seniors who can’t play their weekly game of cribbage, the kids who can’t attend their programs, their fencing or swimming.

Go to the Oxbow on July 4th and feel the emptiness when the Independence Day celebration is cancelled this year.

Imagine if no one empties the garbage cans downtown, how quickly trash will line the sidewalks. Imagine if no one mowed the grass in front of City Hall or pruned the trees on 1st Street in front of your favorite restaurant. What if the grass in your neighborhood park was never mowed, the tree that had fallen never removed, and your family couldn’t throw a Frisbee, and no one pruned the shrubs on the sidewalk so you had to walk in the street?

Imagine if no one cleaned up the trash piles along the Vine Trail from the nearby
encampments or the 5-gallon buckets of human excrement left next to the ballfields at Kennedy Park. Who will clean up after the unsheltered resident who sleeps at Fuller Park—before your children play there?

Parks & Recreation is a close-knit department, and we rely on every part of our team to do our work. We get up at 4am to make sure downtown is ready for business. We open the gates at sunrise, and we make our community a home and a nice place to raise a family.

We do all of this for the citizens of Napa. And without Parks and Recreation, the City of Napa not only will be turning its back on the employees of the Parks & Rec, but the citizens, like you, who enjoy these public spaces, activities and invest in them in every dollar you spend in our community. 

We must be ready for the families that will head to the playgrounds, return to the senior center, desire and look for recreation programs for their children - when this shelter in place is over. 

Let the City of Napa Council know you care about these spaces, the services to provided to you and your family, and the importance of them by signing this petition.

El Concilio de la ciudad de Napa esta pensando en una acción que se disuelve el departamento de Parques y Recreación.

¿Porque es importante el departamento de parques y recreación? Pregunta a la gente que se lo usa en Westwood Hills, buscando una coneccion a la naturaleza especialmente durante este tiempo de mantener en lugar.

Pregunta a los millones de gente que llevan sus mascotas al Alston Park para andar y dejar su mascotas correr, y los otros quienes tienen niños jóvenes y están explicando a sus hijos porque no pueden jugar en los  juegos ahora.
Pregunta a los padres quienes no pueden llevar sus niños a prescolar en Las Flores, los mas viejos quienes no se pueden jugar sus juegos de naipes favoritos, los niños quienes no pueden asistir a sus programas, la de esgrima o natación.

Váyanse al Oxbow en el cuarto de julio y sentirán el vació cuando a la celebración de independencia esta cancelado.

Imaginases si nadie se vacían los botes de basura en la ciudad central, que de prisa la basura va a estar en el suelo por todas partes de la acera. Imaginases si nadie corta el zacate en frente de City Hall o si no mantienen los arboles en 1st Street en frente de su restaurante favorito. Y si la yerba en su parque local no fue cortado, el árbol que se callo nunca fue quitado, y su familia no podía tirar frisbee, y la arbusto no fue cortados u por eso tenían que caminar en la calle?

Imaginan nadie no limpia el montón de basura a lado de Vine Trail que viene de los encampamientos cercanos o los botes de 5 galones que están llenos de excremento humano dejado a lado de parques de béisbol en Kenndey Park.

¿Quinen van a limpiar atrás de los residentes sin casa quienes duermen en Fuller Park-antes de que sus niños juegan allá?

El departamento de Parque y Recreación es un grupo muy unido y dependen en todos partes del grupo para hacer nuestro trabajo. Levantamos a las 4:00A.M. para asegurar que el centro de la ciudad esta listo para negocios. Abrimos las puertas cuando llega el amanecer, hacemos nuestra comunidad un hogar and lugar bueno para una familia.

Hacemos todo esto para los ciudadanos de Napa. Sin el departamento de parque y recreación la ciudad Napa no solamente esta dando su espalda a los empleados de este conjunto, pero también a ustedes, los ciudadanos, quienes disfrutan en estos espacios públicos y sus propias actividades que resultan en ustedes invirtiendo su dinero que gastan en nuestra comunidad.

Debemos que estar listos para las familias quienes van a ir a los áreas de juegos, a los que van a regresar a los Senior Centers, y la gente que desean los programas de recreación para sus niños cuando esto tiempo de mantener en lugar se acaba.

Aseguran que la ciudad Napa saben que estos espacios y los servicios proveídos a usted y su familia son importantes para ustedes y FIRMAN esta petición.
