Let’s get a yellow line painted down the rest of Opal road so we can all use it as it was intended. This way cars cannot be parked in the road to unsafely impede traffic and cause issues for others trying to share the road like cyclists and pedestrians.  They are using children as a reason for doing this. This is not about the children’s safety or anyone else’s. Instead it is about a few people not wanting to adapt to city growth. If they want to make the road safer not blocking the sides so everyone can use it would be the more sensible route. There are already two speed bumps and a sharp turn that makes it nearly impossible to speed. Therefore the excuse of people speeding is irrelevant. Mayor Krog has stated he will turn the road into a cul-de-sac to make his point as the other costly modifications did not stay. A yellow line will be far less expensive for the tax payers of Nanaimo. Our mayor is supposed to be for the citizens of Nanaimo not a few people he deems better than. If the council is going to continually permit new and condensed housing to be built in the Rock City and Hammond Bay areas they will also need to accommodate the increased traffic accordingly and not further bottle neck it into the surrounding school zones.
