The City of Nanaimo has plans to demolish the dams for safety reasons but we feel other options are available that would ensure the safety of Harewood residents while preserving the wonderful natural area that is the Colliery Dam Park. The City of Nanaimo has not yet looked into the possibility of financial assistance from the BC Government for rehabilitation or replacement of the dams and we'd like to make sure they explore that option.
